CUCollaborate, a Washington, D.C.-based, independent, membership association for credit unions and their business partners, is growing! Retired National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) General Counsel Bob Fenner, president/CEO of RMF Consulting, is partnering with CUCollaborate as a consultant.
“Bob’s legal, regulatory and credit union expertise is a great pairing for CUCollaborate’s efforts to help credit unions grow and thrive,” said CUCollaborate Founder and CEO Sam Brownell. “I’m excited to see what more our company can do with our JoinCU service and others using his wealth of knowledge and depth of understanding of credit unions’ needs.”
Fenner is a true industry veteran, having started his career in credit unions in 1971 as an attorney for the NCUA. He was named NCUA general counsel in 1985 and served in that capacity until his retirement in August 2011. As general counsel, Fenner was the chief legal adviser to the NCUA board, responsible for the federal regulator’s rule making, litigation and enforcement programs. His expertise includes strategic planning, the legal and fiduciary responsibilities of directors and officers, regulatory compliance, Field of Membership (FOM) expansion, low-income designation, and applications for state and federal regulators.
“I’m pleased to continue helping credit unions’ expand their service to American consumers,” Fenner said of the partnership.
Fenner will be advising CUCollaborate on issues relating to field of membership expansions and more as it enhances its existing products and works to develop new ones. CUCollaborate is in the process of ramping up to present its JoinCU product, which helps members identify credit unions they can join, at FinovateSpring 2018, held from May 8–11, an event that educates on the latest in fintech (Financial Technology) and helps to connect companies in the industry with investors.
Among other awards, Bob is the recipient of the NCUA Board's Gold Medal for Meritorious Service as well as the Federal Bar Association Banking Law Committee's Richard Peterson Award for career contributions to financial institutions law and policy.
